This week I created a new mould for my project. This involved sledging the inside form of my planned plate shape, sledging the outside shape on top of this, making a spare for the footring and then making a mould of this plate. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to make – it will definitely take a lot of practice to get used to the short amount of time to work with the plaster but I’m happy with this as a first try. I’ve only just cast the plate today so need to check and see if it warps during the firings – maybe stoneware will be too high a temperature for this piece. The shape is a bigger version of one of the small containers I created at the start of the year, and I plan to use the big suface area to apply some decals of my cityscape collages and drawings.
